MDC MODEL 102-C “DOUBLE CABLESPHERE” MOLDED (SPHERICAL) TYPE RUBBER EXPANSION JOINTS
MDC Model 102-C “Double Cablesphere” is used exactly as its single sphere counterpart. However, it allows greater compression, extension and angular movement. Its unique shape and longer length increases acoustic resistance and dampens surge and shock.
The standard “Double Cablesphere” body is constructed of multiple layers of Neoprene* and bias-ply tire cord reinforcing. The spherical shape Allows pressure to be exerted uniformly in all directions making an extremely strong joint. The cables are galvanized aircraft cable permanently affixed to the flanges. The cables are designed for the maximum test pressure of the joint. No adjustment can, or need be made to the cables. They are sized to prevent the joint from extending past its limit.

Please note: the elongation of the “Double Cablesphere” is purposely restricted compared to the Model 101. This is done to accommodate 90% of the applications where Model 102-C “Double Cablesphere” is installed as a pump connector and elongation is not desired.
Solid plate steel flanges grip the sealing area and provide a fluid tight connection. All flanges are drilled mate with 150# companion flanges. The arches are self-cleaning, thus eliminating the need for filled arches when solids are present in the stream.

* Other standard materials: EPDM, Nitrile (Buna-N), Hypalon, Viton.
